As Performance Groups are by invitation only and an additional class to those students, additional Terms & Conditions are in place for Performance Group. These are outlined below and must be agreed to (either by electronic form or hard copy) before commencing Performance Group classes.
Parents, please remember that students can only fulfill these expectations with your complete support.
- Students will work to the best of their abilities at all times.
- Students will present excellent behaviour and work ethic at all times.
- Attendance at performance group classes is mandatory. If a student misses more than two classes per term for reasons other than illness, they will not be considered for upcoming performances. This will be strictly enforced in 2021.
- Being a member of performance group does not necessarily mean that each student will perform in all dances. As these groups are the flagship of the school, all performances must be of the highest standard possible. A student who is not up to the required standard will not perform.
- Students will have the opportunity within Performance Group to audition for each piece.
- Performance Group students are expected to act as role models within the school, and as such grooming and dress standards are to be adhered to at all times. Hair must be worn away from the face, in a tight bun. No jewellery is worn to class (stud or sleeper earrings are acceptable).
- All students must wear the Performance Group uniform.
- Performance Group Students, when representing the school in any public arena must wear the Ballet School tracksuit or other LCDC merchandise.
- Students in Intermediate and Senior Performance Group must be attending the full complement of Vocational level classes to be eligible for inclusion in this class. This includes contemporary for Students in both these Performance Groups.
- When groups are entered in Eisteddfods they are entered within certain age groups. It may happen that a student is too old for a section that the group is dancing in and not up to the standard of the group above. The staff reserves all rights to casting of students in performance pieces, and whilst an explanation of choices will always be given to students involved, no discussion can be entered into regarding decisions.
- When students move from one level of Performance Group to the next, it is not a given that they will automatically be able to perform in all dances. This is relevant to all the groups abilities and we will always present the group that has attained the highest standard. Some students may be included in a Performance Group because of a particular talent in a particular style. This does mean that they may only perform in one dance.
- Dates that the students are required are advertised as they become available.
- LCDC Performance Group typically perform in one Eisteddfod outside of the ACT region although this year we are looking at a second one as we would like to give our students an additional opportunity to perform. The cost of travel and accommodation is the responsibility of each family. We will endeavour to inform you of any upcoming events and costs as soon as we have any information.
